Privacy Policy
Starmoire respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information in connection with Starmoire's services, including wardrobe storage, digital closet management, pickup and retrieval coordination, resale services, and related communications and tools.
This Privacy Policy applies when you visit our website, use our app, create an account, submit items to us, communicate with us, request services, or otherwise interact with Starmoire.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that is reasonably necessary to operate, improve, secure, and support the Services.
When you create an account or communicate with us, we may collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing or delivery address, billing information, login information, and other profile or contact details you choose to provide.
When you use the Services for storage, closet management, or resale, we may collect and create information about your items, including photographs, item descriptions, brand and category details, condition notes, pricing information, listing history, sale status, storage location information, retrieval history, intake details, and related account notes.
We may collect transaction information, including records relating to fees, subscriptions, payouts, retrievals, deliveries, communications, and payment history. Payment card or bank information may be collected and processed by our third-party payment processors rather than stored directly by Starmoire.
We may also collect technical and usage information, such as IP address, device type, browser type, operating system, feature usage, page views, timestamps, and analytics or diagnostic information about how you interact with the Services.
If you contact us, respond to a survey, text us, email us, or otherwise communicate with us, we may collect the contents of those communications and related records.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to provide and operate the Services, create and manage accounts, receive and catalog items, maintain digital closets, coordinate pickup and retrieval, facilitate resale transactions, process payments and payouts, provide value estimates, communicate with users, provide customer support, improve our products and operations, analyze usage, prevent fraud or misuse, protect our rights and property, and comply with legal obligations.
We may also use information in aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified form for analytics, reporting, product development, and business planning, provided that the information does not identify you personally.
3. Photos, Item Data, and Listing Content
As part of the Services, Starmoire may photograph, describe, catalog, and digitize your items for your digital closet, storage operations, retrieval coordination, resale preparation, customer support, internal recordkeeping, and related service purposes.
If you choose to list an item for sale, we may use images, descriptions, pricing information, and other item details in resale listings and related merchandising, marketing, and promotional materials across Starmoire channels. Marketing use applies only to items that you choose to list for sale through the Services.
We may retain item images, descriptions, activity logs, and transaction-related records as reasonably necessary to operate the Services, complete transactions, maintain business records, support claims and insurance-related reviews, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Except as described in this Privacy Policy or otherwise authorized by you, we will not publicly identify you as the owner of a listed item without your permission.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following circumstances.
We may share information with vendors, service providers, and contractors that perform services on our behalf, including storage and logistics providers, payment processors, communications providers, technology vendors, analytics providers, customer support tools, insurers, claims administrators, and professional advisors. These parties may use information only as reasonably necessary to provide services to or for Starmoire.
If you list an item for sale, item details, images, pricing, and related listing information may be shared with potential buyers and with marketplace, fulfillment, shipping, and service partners involved in the transaction. Your personal identity will not be publicly disclosed unless you choose to include it or disclosure is otherwise necessary to complete the transaction or comply with law.
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, governmental request, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Starmoire, our users, our service providers, or others.
We may also disclose or transfer information in connection with an actual or proposed financing, merger, acquisition, asset sale, bankruptcy, reorganization, or similar business transaction, subject to customary confidentiality measures where appropriate.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Message frequency may vary, and message and data rates may apply depending on your carrier or mobile plan.
5. Your Choices
You may update certain account information by contacting us or, where available, through the Services. You may choose which items to list for sale, request retrieval of your items, and opt out of certain promotional communications.
You may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Deletion requests are subject to any ongoing transactions, storage obligations, unresolved claims, fraud-prevention needs, legal obligations, and records we reasonably need to retain to provide the Services, complete transactions, support insurance or claims handling, enforce agreements, or comply with law.
You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link in the message. You may opt out of SMS messages where available by replying STOP or by contacting us at hello@starmoire.com. Even if you opt out of promotional communications, we may still send you transactional, service-related, billing, security, or legal notices.
6. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, maintain and support accounts, manage stored items, complete transactions, support resale activity, investigate incidents, handle claims, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or misuse, and enforce our agreements.
If you close your account or request deletion, we may delete, anonymize, or de-identify certain information, but we may retain records after account closure where reasonably necessary for business, legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, insurance, claims, dispute-resolution, or compliance purposes.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These safeguards may include access controls, secure storage practices, credential protections, vendor management practices, and other operational security measures appropriate to our business.
No method of electronic transmission, storage, or processing is completely secure. As a result, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. U.S. Processing and New York Operations
Starmoire is based in the United States and currently expects its pilot operations to be managed primarily from New York. Information may be stored and processed in the United States and in other jurisdictions where Starmoire or its service providers operate.
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to individuals under eighteen, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Because Starmoire is operating in a pilot stage, our products, operations, and data practices may evolve. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect those changes or to address legal, operational, or business developments.
If we make material changes, we will provide notice in a manner we consider reasonably appropriate under the circumstances, such as by posting an updated policy, updating the effective date, sending an email, or providing in-app notice.
